Alvin P. Lane

MURFREESBORO, N.C.—Alvin Page Lane, 71, a native of Northampton County, died Aug. 9, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Lane was retired after 31 years of service with the North Carolina Department of Corrections Enterprise, directing the farming program. Then he worked with Carroll Foods of Virginia for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Alta Johnson Lane of their home; two sons, Alton Lane of Roxobel, N.C., and Luther Lane of Rich Square,

N.C.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Levenia Askew of Milwaukee, N.C.; and two brothers, Raleigh Lane of Newport News and Linwood Lane of Woodland, N.C.

Graveside services was conducted Tuesday in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Rich Square by the Revs. David Ross and J.N. Baggett.

Bridgers Funeral Home Inc., in Conway, N.C., was in charge of arrangements.
