Willie S. Jones
VIRGINIA BEACH—Willie S. “Slim” Jones, 86, of Bay Point, died Aug. 25, 2008, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mr. Jones was born June 26, 1922 in Como, N.C. He left a lasting impression on those who knew him well. He always kept a smile, a wave and a friendly, “hey.”
He worked well into his 80s and was happiest on his lawnmower, cutting grass.
Survivors include his three children, William Jones of Kentucky, Emily Gertie Jones of New York and Thelma Jones of New York City; two sisters, Betty Sue Parker of Como and Bertie Mae Sykes of Newport News; two brothers, Robert Lee Jones of Murfreesboro, N.C. and John Henry Jones of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three children, Alvin Jones, Douglas Jones and Elma Jones; a sister, Ruth Irma Jones; and two brothers, Charlie Jones and Randolph Jones.
A funeral was held Sunday in Parker’s Grove Baptist Church.
Hertford County Undertakers was in charge of arrangements.
