Three Franklin men have been charged with possession of illegal substances after a federal search warrant was issued for a home at 1302 Mariner St. on Friday.

According to a release by the Franklin Police Department, city police, in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as members of the Norfolk Police Department and the Virginia State Police, served the warrant in response to information that there were large amounts of drugs being sold and substantial amounts of gun violence at the location.

Alvin Cortez Jones, also known as “A.J.,” 50, of Franklin was charged with possession and the intent to distribute heroin.

Terrence Robbie Canaday, 40, and Percy Brown Terrell, 46, were each charged with possession of marijuana.

Police said that Friday’s raid was the result of a long-term undercover operation.

The list of evidence recovered from the residence was sealed, but the release said the amount was “substantial.”

The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected in the case, police said.
