COURTLAND—Authorities in Southampton County used a Taser to subdue a wanted man Monday afternoon.
Det. Cpl. Richard Morris, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, said that at 4:20 p.m., deputies observed Alvin Ricks Jr., 29, of the 26000 block of Glyndon Street, on Main Street in Courtland.
According to Morris, the deputies knew that Ricks had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation and attempted to arrest Ricks. The deputies deployed a Taser when Ricks refused to comply and failed to stop.
Morris said Ricks was taken into custody without further incident.
Ricks violated probation on two felony charges, grand larceny from person and breaking and entering, according to Southampton County Circuit Court records. A revocation hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. April 28.
