No break needed: PDCCC offers summer courses

The college was on Spring Break last week, giving students and faculty a much-needed intermission. And although spring semester will continue next week through May 4, registration for summer semester is now under way. Summer classes begin May 18.

Summer Semester Classes

You can make this summer count at PDCCC. Our summer semester schedule includes transfer courses for students enrolled in four-year colleges and universities who want to earn credits during their summer break; classes for students working toward a two-year degree or certificate at PDCCC; and options for personal enrichment or getting ahead in the work force. Following are just a few examples of the varied offerings that will be available:

Franklin Campus

Biology 101: General Biology I will meet May 18 through June 22 from 6 to 10:05 p.m. with lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays and lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Biology 101: General Biology II will meet June 24 through July 29 with the same time frame, which allows students to complete the two four-credit classes in 10 weeks.

ADJ 133: Ethics and Criminal Justice and CHD 125: Creative Activities for Children will be taught on Tuesdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m. ENG 111: Composition I will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.

MTH 163: Precalculus I will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m., and

PED 137-138: Martial Arts I-II will be featured on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:15 p.m.

PSY 201: Introduction to Psychology I will be taught on Tuesdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m., and SPD 100: Public Speaking will be featured on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m.

Hobbs Suffolk Campus

EDU 295: Topics in Education will be taught on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays, and Friday from 8 to 11:10 a.m.

HIS 121: US History I will be taught on Mondays and Wednesdays, May 18 through June 22, from 8 to 12:05; HIS 122: US History II will be offered the same days and times, June 24 through July 29.

MUS 121: Music Appreciation I will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4 to 6 p.m.

PSY 201: Introduction to Psychology I will be taught on Thursdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m., REL 210: Survey of the New Testament on Wednesdays from 6 to 10:05; and SPD 100: Public Speaking on Mondays from 6 to 10:05 p.m.

Paul D. Camp Center at Smithfield

ADJ 298: Seminar and Projects in Administration of Justice will meet on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. and CHD 118: Language Arts for Young Children will meet on Thursdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m.; ECO 201: Principles of Macroeconomics on Mondays from 6 to 10:05 p.m.; HIS 269: Civil War and Reconstruction on Thursdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m.; ITE 1115: Introduction to Computer Applications and Software and Concepts will meet on Tuesdays from 5 to 8:50 p.m.; PSY 215: Abnormal Psychology on Thursdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m.; PSY 235: Child Psychology will meet on Wednesdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m.; and REL 225: Selected Topics/Biblical Studies on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m.

Workforce Development Center

Summer classes at the Workforce Center include Tradesman License Renewal, Basic Contract Business Licensing, Microsoft Word 2003, Microsoft Excel 2003 and Motorcycle Rider Safety for Beginners.

Online Offerings

Summer Semester online options include ACC 211-212: Principles of Accounting I-II; BIO 101-102: General Biology I-II; BUS 117: Leadership Development; ECO 201: Principles of Macroeconomics; ECO 202: Principles of Microeconomics; ENG 11-1121: College Composition I-II; MDA: Medical Law and Ethics; MKT 276: International Marketing Management; PED 103: Aerobic Fitness I; PHI 115: Practical Reasoning; and REL 200: Survey of the Old Testament.
