WAKEFIELD—Lois Hargrave Barrett, 92, a former resident of Wakefield died May 28, 2009.
Born on June 7, 1916 in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Hargrave and Inez Goodrich Hargrave.
She was the widow of Leslie Charles Franck Jr., Stanley Brantley, Sr., and Jeff Barrett.
In her later years she was the close companion of the late John Gibbs.
Survivors include two sons, Leslie Charles Franck III and wife Frankie of Sutherland and Ernest Ray Franck and wife Georgia of Bracey; five grandchildren, Les Franck IV and wife Karman, Clif Franck and wife Ise, Copeland Rusterholz, Kayla Franck and Conner Franck; two great granddaughters, Halle and Olivia; a sister-in law, Elizabeth Moore of Scotland Wharf; two step-sons, Stanley Brantley Jr. and wife Diane and Butler Barrett and wife Betty Ann; and nine step-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother Joseph “Slick” Hargrave.
Mrs. Barrett lived with her husband Leslie Franck at Young’s Road in Dinwiddie County until his untimely death in 1972.
In 1976 she married Stanley Brantley Sr. and became a resident of Wakefield.
A graveside funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park, Petersburg.
The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Wakefield UMC Pre-School, P.O. Box 87, Wakefield VA 23888.
