Friends in high places

At a time when Western Tidewater really needs the exposure, the region is getting it – courtesy of some of its top leadership.

To wit:

Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors Chairman Phillip Bradshaw is chairman of the Virginia Association of Counties, an association representing 95 local governments throughout the state.

Franklin Mayor Jim Councill is president-elect of the Virginia Municipal League, a nonpartisan association of city, town and county governments established in 1905 to improve and assist local governments through legislative advocacy, research, education and other services. The membership includes all 39 cities in the state, 156 towns and 10 counties.

Bob Petty of Bronco Federal Credit Union is chairman of the Virginia Credit Union League, a statewide trade association representing the 190-plus member-owned, not-for-profit credit unions headquartered in the commonwealth.

These leaders have earned such prestigious positions through long and effective service to their professions and communities. The exposure they will bring our region through leadership of their respective statewide organizations is priceless. Western Tidewater is fortunate to count them as citizens and leaders.
