WINDSOR—Two principals at schools in Windsor will trade places beginning July 1.
Isle of Wight Schools Superintendent Michael McPherson announced Thursday that Stenette Byrd, who has served as principal of Windsor Middle School since 2008, will be taking over as principal at Windsor Elementary School.
Meanwhile, Susan Goetz, who has been principal of Windsor Elementary School since 2006, will become the new principal at Windsor Middle School.
“Both administrators are valuable members of the school division,” McPherson said in a written statement Thursday. “This move will strengthen programs at both Windsor Elementary and Windsor Middle School and provide new perspectives and opportunities for continued improvements at both locations.”
Goetz said she was looking forward to the switch.
“I’m excited about getting back to working with the middle school kids, and working with some of the parents that I have already developed a relationship with while at Windsor Elementary,” Goetz said Thursday. “I’m looking forward to seeing them again.”
Byrd could not be reached for comment Thursday.
According to the division, Byrd began his teaching career at Jefferson Davis Middle School in Hampton and served as assistant principal at Syms Middle School before joining Carrollton Elementary as assistant principal in 2003. Byrd earned his master’s degree from Old Dominion University and is pursuing a doctorate from the College of William & Mary.
Goetz earned her bachelor’s degree from Christopher Newport University and master’s degree from the College of William & Mary. She came to Isle of Wight County Schools in 2002 as the assistant principal of Smithfield Middle School.
