To the Editor:

The Sedley Recreation Association would like to thank each of you for your help, planning, participation and attendance on July 3 for our annual celebration.

It was a beautiful day that started with a veterans’ program to show our appreciation for their service; it was attended not only by veterans but families that have lost loved ones so we can enjoy our freedom.

Grand marshal Robin Bulls led a parade. We thank you, Robin.

The celebration had games, music, a lot of food, a clown and much more going at the ball field. There was also a car show in the small park and a fire truck competition at the firehouse.

There was something for the young and old to do. The day ended around 9 p.m.

We were disappointed that it didn’t end with fireworks as usual, but due to the extremely dry conditions, it was decided it was safer for the community not to have them.

Sedley Woman’s Club, Sedley Ruritan Club, Sedley Volunteer Fire Department and community members — thanks to all of you for your part in making memories in Sedley.
