IVOR—White Tail Resort had 262 nude swimmers join Saturday’s attempt to break the Guinness World “Skinny Dip” record.

Resort owner Bob Roche blamed the rain and overcast skies for fewer people participating than the 347 who turned out in 2009.

“I think the threatening (weather) held a lot of people back,” Roche said.

It will take two to three weeks before it’s determined whether a new record was set because clubs and resorts across North America must turn in their numbers. During last year’s joint attempt 139 nudist facilities set a record of 13,674 skinny dippers.

White Tail, a four-season nudist resort, opened its two pools for this event as part of American Association for Nude Recreation’s 35th annual Nude Recreation Week. AANR supports nude recreation in appropriate settings, serving more than 213,000 individuals who enjoy clothes-free and clothing-optional recreation throughout North America.

White Tail Resort has been in the community for more than 25 years and offers swimming, sunning, hot tubs, sauna, and other amenities in a nudist surrounding.
