SUFFOLK—Suffolk police on Sunday arrested a 19-year-old Windsor man in connection with the shooting death of a Suffolk man earlier that day.
Dontaz Wilkerson of Blackwater Road faces a number of charges for allegedly killing 18-year-old Tyquan Lewis, a rising senior and multi-sport star player at Suffolk’s Lakeland High School.
Wilkerson was charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, attempted malicious wounding and discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.
According to police, both men were attending a party in the 100 block of Manning Road when a fight broke out. Both are believed to have been involved.
Lewis and Wilkerson left the party and met at a location on Walnut Street, where Lewis was shot just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
Wilkerson is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
