Joyce Bridger

Joyce Ledoux Bridger, 45, passed away August 14, 2010 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 30, 1965 in Waterville, ME. She was Graduation Speaker at Winslow, ME High School, a member of the National Honor Society, and a Presidential Scholar. Joyce graduated from the University of Maine-Orono in 1987 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. She worked for Union Camp/International Paper for 22 years as a supervisor in the paper mill and the pulp mill. She was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church and shared her devout catholic faith with parishioners as well as the parish youth during Christian formations. Joyce enjoyed her beach cottage on the Outer Banks, reading, making puzzles, teaching/learning, working in the yard, and spending time with friends and family, especially her children, Haley and Seth.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Frank Sterling Bridger; her daughter, Haley Brooke Edwards; her son, Seth Simms Edwards; parents, Richard R. and Irene Murray Ledoux of Lisbon, ME; a sister, Karen LeClair (Pete) of Auburn, ME; a brother, Eric Ledoux (Sarah) of West Gardiner, ME; a sister-in-law, Gail Roppo of Chattanooga, TN; cousin, Danny Murray; extended family, Brian Bridger and Angie Brownlee; and several nieces and nephews. The following were special people in Joyce’s life, Paula Day, Debbie Grizzard, Wendy Smith, Billy and Joan Wolfe, and Laura Wright, her sister, Karen, her sister-in-law, Gail and her prayer group at St. Jude’s.. Joyce’s special young friends include Alexa, Chad, Jackson, Whitley, Alex, and Madi.
The funeral mass will be conducted at 10 am Thursday, August 19, 2010 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church with Rev. Father Charles Saglio officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm at the church with a rosary to be held at 8:30 pm. A memorial service will also be held in Maine at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Duke University Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, DUMC 3624, Durham, NC 27710.
