COURTLAND—Southampton County supervisors during their Monday meeting hired a Hunterdale woman as the county finance director.

Lynette Lowe will be paid $67,650 annually. Lowe replaces Julia Williams, who retired Aug. 1 after working for the county for 38 years. Williams was paid $96,494.

A Southampton County native and 1985 graduate of Franklin High School, Lowe has a bachelor’s degree in commerce with a concentration in accounting from the University of Virginia. She previously was the business manager for Deerfield Correctional Center, also in the county.

Lowe is married and has a daughter.

“I’m looking forward to helping make Southampton County a better place to live,” she said Tuesday. “I’m enjoying all of the new people that I’m meeting, and I’m excited to be learning some new things.”
