FRANKLIN—The Franklin School Board on Tuesday, Sept. 7, will consider hiring a principal for J.P. King Middle School.
Franklin Superintendent Dr. Michelle Belle on Friday confirmed that Harrisonburg High School Assistant Principal Jeremy Knapp has accepted the job, pending board approval.
“We’re just waiting for board approval at this point,” Belle said.
School Board members will be introduced to Knapp at the 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall and then meet in closed session to consider him for the position, Belle said. Since the School Board won’t meet until Tuesday, Knapp won’t start on the first day of school, which is Tuesday.
“The plan would be that he would start Wednesday morning if everything goes as planned,” Belle said.
If approved by the School Board, Knapp will replace Rodney Berry, who was recently named the principal of Franklin High School.
According to an article in the Harrisonburg High School newspaper, The Newsstreak, Knapp was beginning his fifth year in that city’s school system.
“We’re very excited about him,” Belle said, adding that more details will be available after Tuesday’s meeting.
