Keyt rushes for 194 yards in IWA 47-14 win

MARTINSVILLE—Isle of Wight Academy’s Charles Keyt rushed for 194 yards to help the Chargers beat Carlisle School 47-14 during a Friday night non-league game.
Chargers Coach Dale Chapman was pleased with the win from his young team.
“It was a good win for us,” Chapman said. “In the last three or four weeks, our offense has gotten better. Our young football team is finally starting to come together.”
IWA is 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.
The Chargers rushed for 327 yards and passed for another 57. Quarterback Ben Epps gained 102 yards on 8 carries. Keyt and Greg Chaffer led with tackles.
Keyt opened up scoring for the Chargers in the first quarter with a 10-yard run. Charles Clamen’s kick failed.
Keyt found the end zone again, this time in the second quarter on a 1-yard run. Epps completed the 2-point conversion to Josh Thomas, making the score 14-0.
IWA stretched its lead to 21-0 after Epps scored on a 28-yard rush in the second quarter and Clamen’s kick for the extra point was good.
In the second half, Carlisle opened scoring on a 2-yard touchdown rush by T. Mitchell. The kick was good.
The Chargers responded with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Epps to Thomas. Clamen’s kick was good.
Carlisle’s Chris Graves then scored on a 69-yard run. The kick was good.
Continuing through the second half, Epps scored on a 22-yard run and Clamen’s kick gave the Chargers the extra point.
Chaffer then scored on a 3-yard run for the Chargers. The kick failed. Charger C.C. Johnson closed out the game on a 13-yard touchdown run.
