BRANCHVILLE—Deacon George Cutler Sr. of Branchville passed Nov. 20, 2010, in Chesapeake.

The Southampton County native was a self-employed farmer for over 60 years.

Deacon Cutler was a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, where he was ordained Deacon at the age of 38. He also served on the Trustee Board, finance committee, and he was a Sunday School Teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tonce and Laura Walden Cutler; his wife, Pauline Warren Cutler; son, Reverend Melvin Cutler; and two brothers, Welfort Cutler and James Cutler.

He is survived by one son, George Cutler Jr. of Chesapeake, Va.; one sister, Mary C. Vick, Washington, D.C.; brothers, Earven Cutler of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Tonce Cutler, Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, 11069 Old Belfield Road, Drewryville, Va., with the pastor, Reverend Carlton Powell, delivering the eulogy. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
