Linda B. Carr

FRANKLIN—Deaconess Linda B. Carr of Mariner Street, Franklin, Va., departed this life February 7, 2011, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
The Southampton County native was born January 1, 1919, to Thomas and Lillie Maude Butts.
Deaconess Carr was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, the Ladies Chorus and the Missionary Circle.
Deaconess Carr was preceded in death by her parents; husband Johnnie Carr; one son, Johnnie Carr Jr.; two daughters, Rachael and Annie; brothers Clarence Butts and Thomas Butts; and two sisters, Rachael Newell and Daisy Cheatham.
She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Baker (Clarence); two grandchildren, Cornell Fye and Clarence Baker Jr.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1071 Carrsville Hwy., Franklin, Va., where Reverend Alfred Brown Sr. is pastor; Reverend Clarence Myrick will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
