Alvis L. Stone

Franklin – Alvis Long Stone, 90, passed away February 14, 2011 at Lake Prince Woods in Suffolk, She was born in Halifax County, a daughter of the late William Green Long and Nannie Wilkins Long, and was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Edward “Buck” Stone, four sisters and five brothers. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvis was a former loan officer for Merchants and Farmers Bank and was a retired account manager for D & D Auto Supply. She was an active member of High Street United Methodist Church which she joined in 1953. She served as Acolyte Coordinator, Trustee, Church Council Member-at-large, and Records & History team member, greeter coordinator, and was a Ruthie Ponder Circle Member.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Wright Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Susan Reaves officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the High Street United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O.
