FRANKLIN—The threat of flooding along the Blackwater and Nottoway rivers diminished even more by Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service’s Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service has the projected crest of the Blackwater at Burdette dropping to 14.9 from a post-hurricane high of 20.6 feet last week.
At 14.9 feet, the Blackwater poses no threat to downtown businesses or residents, but the Barrett’s Landing river walk is expected to be covered by water as well as a portion of Joyners Bridge Road.
The Blackwater currently sits at 14.79 feet.
The Nottoway poses even less of a threat as it is expected to crest just below flood stage at 15.8 feet. The Nottoway sits just below its crest level at 15.73 feet.
