COURTLAND—Southampton High School girls’ volleyball team completed its pre-season play undefeated and will take on Greensville at 7:30 p.m. today, Sept. 27, for its first Southside District match.
The Lady Indians improved to 7-0 on Monday after defeating visiting non-district King’s Fork 25-21, 25-17, 25-21.
“We played flat tonight,” said Southampton Coach Chad Brock. “We go to Greensville tomorrow and we need to get it together. They have a really good hitter and she can hurt us if we don’t play with more focus.”
For the Lady Indians, Marisa Cabell led with nine kills; Madison Cabell and Madeleine Kahle added five and four, respectively. Claire Cogsdale had six assists, while Grayson Drake and Candace Earls added five each.
The Southampton junior varsity squad won 25-20 and 26-24.
Morgan Bunn led with three kills. Mikayla Clarke had five assists.
