FRANKLIN—After 10 years in downtown Franklin, Angie’s Anything and Everything has closed and the inventory will be auctioned at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.

Owner Angela Corbin is allowing customers to come in and scout out what remains.

“We’re not open to sell anything, but we’re open to let people come in to see if there’s something they’d like to come back for,” Corbin said.

She decided to sell everything to keep from moving the home furnishings and second-hand items. Proceeds will help Corbin and her husband, Dewey, pay remaining bills from the store.

“I don’t want to haul it and move it,” Corbin said. “I just want to get rid of it and be done with it.”

Corbin said business at the store, which has been at its current location at 115 E. Second Ave. for nearly six years, began to drop off shortly after the closing of the International Paper mill.

“When we first moved in here everything was great, and then the economy hit,” she said.

Corbin said the prospect of no longer owning a secondhand shop was scary after 15 years of experience.

“It’s scary because this is what I know,” Corbin said. “This is what I’ve done for 15 years.”

Corbin said she wouldn’t wander too far from what she’s used to, though. She wants to continue buying and selling secondhand items, but she will use a third party, like an auction house, for future business to reduce overhead.
