BOYKINS—The death of a Boykins man, who was hit by a train on May 8, has been ruled accidental, said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.
Clarance Williams, 28, was hit by the train at 2:05 a.m. between Route 35 and Branchville, police reported. Police learned about Williams’ death after the conductor reported hitting something on a section of tracks that goes through private property.
“After Trooper Kenley’s investigation and the investigation by the medical examiner and toxicology report, it is concluded that the victim was lying on, but trying to move on some railroad tracks before he was struck by a train,” Anaya said.
Williams died at the scene.
“The investigation revealed there was no reason to believe that this accident was no more than an accidental death,” she said. “No one will be charged.”
Police were waiting on the medical examiner’s report and toxicology report before ruling out foul play, which was rumored.
