FRANKLIN—Five children ranging from 4 to 10 years old were turned over to their grandparents after Franklin police arrested their mother and her boyfriend for allegedly selling marijuana from their home.
Adena Marie Picot, 29, of 724 Cameron St., and Timothy Lee Bowers, 30, of Norfolk were both charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, conspiracy to distribute marijuana and five counts of felony child neglect, police said.
An investigation into the sale and distribution of narcotics led police to obtain a warrant to search Picot’s home at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 23, said Lt. Tim Whitt.
Whitt didn’t know the exact amount of pot that was allegedly found, but the warrant indicated it was between a half-ounce and five pounds.
The children were taken from the home because it’s believed they were there when the couple allegedly sold the marijuana, Whitt said.
Picot was released on personal recognizance bond, and Bowers was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk without bond. When arrested, he was free on bond from drug charges filed in October, police said.
