PORTSMOUTH—The Isle of Wight Academy girls’ basketball team won its fourth straight game with a 61-23 drubbing of Portsmouth Christian Friday.
Coach Chris Hooper attributed the streak to the young team gaining more experience.
“We’re getting more production from more people,” Hooper said.
The team has won four of its five games since returning from the holiday on Jan. 4 and has improved to 7-8 overall and 3-4 in the Metro Athletic Conference.
Ally Van Campen led IWA with 14 points, while Brooke Olsavicky and Kenzie Conner added 12 each. Conner also went six-of-nine from the foul line. In all, eight of the team’s 10 players scored.
IWA hosts Tidewater Academy at 7 tonight, Jan. 23.
