FRANKLIN—Terry Harrell, 68, left us peacefully at home on January 30, 2012, after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
His wife of nearly 41 years, Deloris, was by his side and will cherish their happy times forever.
Besides his wife, Terry leaves behind his father, Otho Harrell Sr. of the East Pavilion.
Terry was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Pope of Emporia, a brother Otho Jr. of Lynchburg, and a son Barry.
Left to cherish his life are many extended family members of his brother Otho Jr. and Deloris’ large family. There are many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was brought special joy by nieces Kailee Pittman and Charlee Paige Pittman and by adopted nephew Jackson Corbitt.
Terry was a good son, brother and husband, and loyal friend to many people.
Terry retired from Verizon Telephone Co. as a senior engineer after a 30-year career, beginning with Home Telephone Co.
Terry was a great golfer, having been a former winner of the Cypress Cove Country Club Championship and sharing many good days with his friends.
He was a longstanding member of the Forks of the River Hunt Club and one of his greatest pleasures was fishing. Many of the best days of his life were spent on the rivers with his very dear friend, Bob Vann.
He was blessed to have two very good friends since first grade, Billy Harding of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Johnny Harrison of Emporia. He was fortunate to have Dr. Aurelius Brantley as not only his caring physician, but as a treasured friend for over 30 years.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating.
