IWA loses to No. 1 team in conference

WILLIAMSBURG—The Isle of Wight Academy boys’ basketball dropped to 14-6 overall after a 73-28 loss to Metro Athletic Conference foe Williamsburg Christian.
The Chargers were held to one point in the first quarter and hit their first field goal midway through the second quarter. They trailed 39-9 at the half.
Seniors Ben Epps and Josh Thomas led the Chargers with six points each.
The Chargers outscored the No.1 team in the conference 7-4 in the fourth quarter, with reserves on the floor, but it was too late for a comeback.
The Eagles have won seven straight games and lead Atlantic Shores by a game in the conference.
Isle of Wight hosts Broadwater on Tuesday, Feb. 7, with the junior varsity game beginning at 5:30 p.m.
