IWA boys pick up non-conference win

ISLE OF WIGHT — The Isle of Wight Academy Chargers moved to 16-6 on the year Wednesday night with a 72-53 win over Northeast Academy out of Lasker, N.C.
Northeast led most of the first quarter until the Chargers’ Rainer Marfio made a basket with 2:44 left in the second quarter that put IWA up 28-26. The Chargers would take a 37-30 halftime edge.
The Chargers then outscored Northeast 15-2 in the first five minutes of the second half to extend their lead. The Chargers took their largest lead of the game of 20 points on a Hunter Triplett basket with 6:51 left in the game.
Austin Rodgers led the Chargers with 15 points in the win, while teammate Nathan Silvertson added 12.
The Chargers host Summit Christian Academy at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in Isle of Wight.
