ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight County officials are looking for a Zuni woman missing since Feb. 19.
Lee Phillips Hughes, 53, was drunk when she disappeared from her home on Tomlin Hill Drive, said Kristen Wilda, spokeswoman from the Sheriff’s Office.
“She left the residence during very bad weather conditions, wearing only jeans, a white T-shirt and sneakers,” Wilda said.
Hughes is an insulin-dependent diabetic and left without her medicine.
Authorities have no thoughts as to what could’ve happened to Hughes, who was reported missing by her live-in boyfriend. Wilda doesn’t believe her boyfriend immediately reported her missing.
“We’re investigating and trying to find out what happened to her,” Wilda said. “We don’t know much other than she left in bad weather, had no medical supplies and was not wearing a coat.”
She is described as 5-foot-2 and 150 pounds. Hughes has green eyes, shoulder-length auburn hair and a light complexion.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 357-2151.
