Jean Hall Bass

COURTLAND-Jean Addison Hall Bass, 89, passed away April 15, 2012, at Cedar Manor in Chesapeake.
Mrs. Bass was born in Suffolk and reared in Windsor and was a daughter of the late, Lucien Talmage and Georgia Moore Hall. She was predeceased by a son, Talmage A. Bass, a sister Mary Emiline Jureit, a brother Lucien T. Hall, Jr., and her step-mother Marjorie Rhodes Hall.
Mrs. Bass, a retired teacher, taught in the Southampton County School system from 1942-1986. She was a graduate of Longwood College and a member of Courtland Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jean Carole Rawls and husband Edward of Chesapeake, a son, E. Lloyd Bass, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Courtland, a sister, Nancy Gay Lyon of Gloucester, five grandchildren, Edward L. Rawls, III of Norfolk, Christopher B. Rawls of Osaka, Japan, Catherine Marie Bass of Virginia Beach, Edward L. Bass, III and George R. Bass both of Courtland.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in the Windsor, Va. Town Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1 P.M. at the Courtland Baptist Church, Main Street Courtland. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Courtland Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8:30 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
