COURTLAND—In four innings Tuesday, Southampton High School’s softball team scored 12 runs while hitting .500 to get revenge against Prince Edward for the Lady Indians’ only loss this season.
The Lady Indians defeated Prince Edward 12-0. When the teams met in April, Prince Edward won 6-5.
“We just couldn’t put the bat on the ball up there last time,” SHS Head Coach Susan Melbye said. “This time around, we had our hitting shoes on and we were able to pour it on today.”
The Lady Indians had 15 hits. Only two were extra-base hits.
Emily Nelson had a two-RBI, inside-the-park home run, which sealed the Eagles’ fate. After a one-two-three top of the fifth, the game was called.
