FRANKLIN—Crews are repaving South Street from High to Harrison streets.
Suffolk-based Blair Brothers Construction expects to complete the $400,000 project by Friday, June 22, said Executive Vice President Aaron Ketchum.
“It was much needed,” Ketchum said. “There were a lot of issues. There was water pooling and building up on the road.”
Funding will come the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Ketchum said crews also will replace manholes and water valves for a smoother ride.
Two-way traffic should continue throughout the project.
City Manager Randy Martin said the milling and cleaning of the asphalt will improve drainage on the road.
Martin said this was the largest street project all year.
