We support mom’s efforts

We hope everyone can find it in their heart to help Lindsay Barnes raise the required $2,300 to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day breast cancer awareness walk from Oct. 19-21.
A 29-year-old Drewryville mother of four, Barnes has participated in the 60-mile walk for the last three years. She does it in honor of her grandmother, Barbara Ann Hopkins — a cancer survivor.
The last three years, the event has taken Barnes to Washington, D.C., San Diego and Philadelphia. This year’s walk is in Atlanta, which happens to be about an hour from her grandmother’s home in Anniston, Ala.
Barnes wishes to share with her grandmother the moving experience of the opening and closing ceremonies.
If she raises the $2,300, Barnes has promised to shave her head. She’s concerned about reaching this year’s goal because of adverse publicity related to Susan G. Komen donating money to Planned Parenthood.
So, for anyone who would like to see Barnes continue her efforts, give her a call. She can be reached at 434-594-1755.
