Mildred R. Babb

FRANKLIN—Mildred Ricks Babb “Mammy,” 87, passed away July 23, 2012, at her daughter’s home on Country Club Road after a long illness.
Mrs. Babb was a native of Southampton County and a longtime resident of Sebrell.
She was predeceased by her husband, David Babb; her parents, David and Blannie Parker Ricks; daughter, Nancy B. Francis; son, Norman E. BabB Sr.; sisters, Violet Taylor and Sally Griffin; and brothers, David R. Ricks Sr., Joe Sam Ricks and William Matt Ricks Sr.
Mrs. Babb worked at Babb’s Phillips 66 Service Station and Store for 16 years and was a longtime member of Sebrell United Methodist Church and an active member of the Adult Bible Class and Sebrell Women’s Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Babb Madron; a son, Vernon Tom Babb; nine grandchildren, Millie Bradshaw (Gary), Karen Zeiber, Robbie Madron (Cora Mae), Becky Babb, David Babb (Lisa), Tracy B. Mattox, T.J. Babb, Janice Trump (Aaron) and Norman Babb Jr.; and 13 great-grandchildren, Colby and Stacey Bradshaw, Chance, Summer and Morgan Carr, Tori Zeiber, Katie Mattox, Carlee Babb, Katelyn and Colton Trump, Taylor Babb, Harper Lily Babb and Katie Lane.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt Ricks officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Sebrell UMC, c/o Glynn Parker, 22031 Rose Hill Road, Courtland, Va., 23837.
