FRANKLIN—Phyllis Howell Mewborn, 70, owner of Century 21 Gold Market Realty in Franklin, passed away suddenly August 12, 2012.
A lifelong resident of Franklin, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Howell Sr. and Emily Vaughan Howell.
Phyllis, an avid golfer, was a member of Cypress Cove Country Club, the Ladies Golf Association and the Suffolk Ladies Golf Association.
She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, R. Harry Mewborn Jr.; two daughters, Lisa T. Wiese and husband, Bill, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Cindy T. Benton and husband, David, of Franklin; a son, Michael E. Taylor and wife, Danielle, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; a sister, Jean H. Darden and husband, Hunter, of Franklin; a brother, J. Edward Howell Jr. and wife, Marti, of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Capt. Austin Wiese (Kayla), Ashley M. Wiese, Justin M. Taylor, Chad M. Benton, Kassidy N. Taylor, Emily G. Benton and Wade T. Benton; Harry’s three children, Kip Mewborn, Karen Michaels and Anne Scott; and many dear friends and family members.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, in Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Kimlick and Rev.Sharon James officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
