FRANKLIN—Two were arrested after Franklin police allegedly found a large quantity of suspected marijuana and mushrooms, and a smaller quantity of suspected cocaine in a room at the Days Inn at 12:40 p.m. Saturday.
Jessy Paul Land, 21, of 38168 Seacock Chapel Road, Zuni, and Autumn Rose Strickland, 19, of Portsmouth were charged after police obtained a warrant to search a room at the Armory Drive motel and seized the drugs, said Lt. Tim Whitt.
“We came about information that the narcotics were being sold from that location,” Whitt said.
Police also found $1,014 and Adderall in a vehicle. Adderall is a prescription drug for treating attention deficit disorder and narcolepsy.
Police also allegedly found paraphernalia associated with the sale and distribution of narcotics.
Land was in the room at the time of the search and Strickland was in a vehicle at the nearby McDonald’s where the drugs were allegedly being sold, Whitt said.
He didn’t know the exact amount of marijuana seized.
“We send it off to the lab, but it is a quantity consistent with drugs that are not for personal use,” he said.
Land was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and mushrooms, and possession of cocaine.
He was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail on $6,000 bond.
Strickland was charged with possession of drugs not obtained from a valid prescription and released on bond.
