WALTERS—Pearl Armistead Simms, 66, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

Mrs. Simms was born in Southampton County, a daughter of the late Roscoe Wilson Simms and Bertha Mae Simms, and was predeceased by her brother, Randy Milton Simms.

She retired from Verizon after 30 years of service, and was currently employed as an Insurance Clerk with Smithfield Foods.

Pearl was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church.

She is survived by her sister, Judy S. Turner and husband, Roland, of Windsor; her brother, Sidney R. Simms and wife, Emily, of Ivor; her nephews, Lance Simms and wife, Amy, of Franklin, Travis Butler and wife, Tonya, of Zuni, and David Turner of Windsor; her aunt and beloved friend, E.E. Berryman of Surry; her beloved friend, Rose Ferguson of Walters, and her beloved pets, Candy and Gi Gi.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2012, at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Christian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Isle of Wight Animal Shelter, 13100 Poorhouse Road, Isle of Wight, Va., 23397. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
