Franklin volleyball team gets first win of season

FRANKIN—Franklin junior Aerial Darden’s 7 aces, 2 kills and 1 dig led the Lady Broncos to their first win of the season on Tuesday.
Franklin defeated Tri-Rivers District foe Sussex 25-18, 25-19, 25-14.
Franklin senior Asya Lee had 4 aces, 4 kills and 1 block.
“Kaitlyn Trotter had three impressive runs of service, serving up the Tigers with six serves in a row in game one, five serves in a row game two and six in a row for game three with a total of two aces,” said Franklin Coach Erica Smith-Ingram.
Junior Tyreckka Hawks joined serving up five in a row in game two with 4 aces. “Rounding it off with excellent service was sophomore Briana Karmilovich with six in a row in game three, two of which were aces,” Smith-Ingram said.
Hawks led the defense with 3 digs followed by senior Jeanetta Sessoms with 2 digs.
Franklin is 1-2 in the district and will play Surry at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, on the road.
