ISLE OF WIGHT–The Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office has its Severe Weather Emergency Action Team in place.
Divided into three teams, the department will cover 24-hour shifts for the duration of an emergency.
The sheriff’s office does not have an electrical generator. Should power be lost, deputies will be located primarily at fire departments and other county facilities with power.
The 911 emergency calling center has backup power.
“The IOWSO is working in coordination with county emergency management to ensure we have resources available for law enforcement service,” said Sheriff Mark Marshall. “Additionally, we are in constant contact with the Virginia Emergency Operations Center and the National Weather Service.”
