BLACKSTONE— Tidewater Academy’s volleyball team defeated Fuqua School 3-0 in the semi-final round of the Virginia Commonwealth Conference Tournament on Thursday.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-12, 25-14.
The Lady Warriors improved to 14-1 in the VCC and 20-3 overall.
“Overall it was a great game, the girls did a really good job with their serving last night,” said TA Coach Jimmy Dunn.
Top players for the winners were junior Samantha Dunn, who had 8 aces and 7 assists; sophomore Taylor Pruitt, who had 6 aces and 2 kills; senior Cary Beahm added 9 kills; and senior Falon Williams added 6 kills.
“I thought serving was one of our stronger points last night, Samantha Dunn served 27 times last night and we scored 23 points off of those serves, and we scored 18 points off of Taylor Pruitt’s 23 serves,” Dunn said.
TA at 1: 30 p.m. Saturday will play Richmond Christian at Kenston Forest, a neutral court for the finals of the VCC tournament.
