WINDSOR—Windsor High School student Michelle Graham received an HP Pavilion laptop and $1,000 for the school for winning the “Strong Men and Women in Virginia History” student writing contest.

Graham’s essay took top honors for the eastern region of Dominion Power, which co-sponsored the project with the Library of Virginia.

James Wickenden, who teaches Latin at the school, was Graham’s sponsor.

Virginia high school students were asked to recognize notable black Americans in the contest.
