WAKEFIELD—Amelia Academy made a tie-breaking lay-up with 13 seconds left in the game to defeat Tidewater Academy 60-58 on Friday.

“We were 15 down in the third quarter and came back and tied in the fourth,” said Coach Walter Westbrook.

TA senior Hunter Haywood scored 18 points and made nine rebounds, and junior Alante Drew added 16 points during the Virginia Commonwealth Conference loss.

The Warriors fell to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the VCC.

Tidewater traveled to Amelia Academy for a Tuesday game. Results were not available as of press time.
