BOYKINS—Six times in 30 years, Roy Ricks’ Boykins business has been burglarized.

Each time no one was caught.

So Ricks, the owner of Boykins Service Center on Beaton Avenue, isn’t holding onto a lot of hope after the latest break-in, which occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, according to the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.

“Pocketknives, batteries, pork and beans, toilet paper, paper towels, razor blades, playing cards, Nabs, honey buns, cigarette lighters, cigars, Gatorade, Welch’s fruit punch and all of my medicine,” Ricks said Monday about the items stolen. “Imodium, Aleve and Alka-Seltzer Plus.”

The sheriff’s office as of Monday had no suspects and believes entry was made through a connecting auto repair shop. The building was damaged inside and out, including to a waterline.

The break-in was reported after a passerby spotted water running from the shop, Ricks said. Boykins Service Center is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

“To haul (the stuff out), they thrown my trash on the floor and filled up (the garbage container) with all the stuff,” he said.
