ISLE OF WIGHT—The Isle of Wight Academy girls’ basketball team defeated Metro Athletic Conference foe Alliance Christian 64-24 Friday.
“The girls are progressing and are in the area where we’d like them to be at this point in the season,” said IWA Coach Chris Hooper. “Especially since we do have a young team, starting three sophomores and two juniors.”
The Lady Chargers improved to 5-1 in the MAC and 7-3 overall.
“We had a chance for our entire team to play and gain experience, which was good for some of our younger players,” Hooper said.
Leader for the winners were sophomore Gabriella Hooper with 12 points; senior Amellia Boyer added 11 and junior Amanda Williams scored 10.
The Lady Chargers will travel to Hampton Christian for a 5:30 p.m. MAC game on Monday, Jan. 14.
