Local volleyball team goes undefeated

VIRGINIA BEACH—The Black Water Volleyball Club 13U team went undefeated during its first tournament of the season over the weekend.
Sponsored by Tidewater Volleyball Association in Virginia Beach, the tournament saw Black Water girls beating the Clash 25-20 and 25-16, Coastal B 25-8 and 25-20 and Coastal G 25-14 and 25-28.
“This was a great start to the season,” said Coach Chad Brock. “We have had some strong showings in the past, but I think this was the best.”
The club began practicing in December and practices two nights a week.
“This is the biggest group we have ever had,” Brock said. “We currently have a developmental squad ages 12 and under, two 12U teams, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17U.” Students represent Brunswick, Franklin, Southampton and Windsor high schools, and
Southampton and Tidewater academies.
