FRANKLIN—Dr. Alvera Parrish, superintendent of Southampton County Public Schools, during Saturday’s annual Community Leadership Breakfast challenged community leaders to make a difference by improving their roles of service to the community.

“You are great when you make someone else great,” Parrish said during the event at the Paul D. Camp Community College Regional Development Workforce Center.

Wynet Harrell, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, presided during the event hosted by the Franklin Tri-County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in partnership with Franklin Department of Parks & Recreation & the PDCCC Student Government Association.

Franklin High School Color Guard posted the colors, and Southampton High School Jazz Ensemble provided music.

Greetings were given by Franklin Mayor Raystine Johnson-Ashburn, Oak Street Senior Citizens Chairwoman Barbara Barnes, Southampton County Supervisor Chairman Dallas Jones, Martin Carr with student services at PDCCC and Dr. Joe Edenfield, vice president of PDCCC.

Myra Walton gave the blessing for the breakfast prepared by H&H Catering.

MeChelle Blunt, president of the Franklin Tri-County Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Orris Lane and Candace Lankford presented awards.
