PETERSBURG—Franklin’s Quintin Lowe scored a team- and career-high 17 points during the Bronco’s 61-39 Tri-Rivers District win over Appomattox Regional Governor’s School on Friday.
Franklin stretched a 14-4 first-quarter lead to 24-16 at the half.
“Franklin pulled out to a 15-point lead several times in the third quarter, but Appomattox made a run to finish the quarter and were down 34-27 to head into the final quarter of the game,” said Franklin Coach Danny Dillon.
The Broncos scored 27 points within eight minutes with seven players scoring and hitting 8-for-8 from the free-throw line to seal the win.
Terry Warren and Tevin Sumblin each scored 11 points for the Broncos and Marcus Stephens added 10.
Top scorers for ARGS were Alonzo Scott with 18 points; Malek Leach added 15.
“We’ve started four sophomores and a junior in some of our games,” Dillon said. “When you can put together a game like they did tonight, it is scary to think how good we can be going forward.””
“That fourth quarter is the best they played all season,” he added. “It’s so much fun watching how good we can be.”
