FRANKLIN—To meet a growing demand for needed supplies among area firefighters and rescue personnel, a Courtland couple moved their home-based business two months ago to 222 Middle St., in downtown Franklin.

“We saw a need,” said Kevin Moore, about why he and his wife, Jessica, formed Moore Emergency Solutions. “It all fell into place,” he added about the transition.

As captain of the Courtland Volunteer Rescue Squad, and a former paid fireman in Prince George County, Kevin Moore has more than an idea of what his peers need in the way of uniforms, everyday wear and equipment. Jessica also serves as a rescue squad volunteer.

Ninety-five percent of what’s needed the couple has in house, and they can personalize items as well. He anticipates later this year that embroidery for uniforms will also be done in house.

Kevin Moore pointed out that the convenient location helps his customers from having to travel an hour to an hour and-a-half to Chesapeake or Roanoke Rapids, N.C., which he said are the nearest sites to supply what the business already affordably offers.

As if all that weren’t enough, the Moores create vinyl graphics and custom T-shirts for the public.

While there’s not a website for the business, there is a Facebook page where visitors can see about weekly specials.

An open house is set for Saturday, May 11, and will include product demonstrations, door prizes and an inflatable slide for children.

The business is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. For further details, contact Kevin at 653-1213, Jessica at 653-4235, or e-mail mooreemergency@gmail.com.
