FRANKLIN—The Franklin-Southampton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Franklin Rotary Club are presenting a luncheon event with special guest, U.S. Congressman J. Randy Forbes.
The event is planned for June 21 at Cypress Cove Country Club.
According to Chamber President Teresa Beale, “Congressman Forbes will discuss federal issues of importance to our business community and respond to questions.”
Also during the event, a representative from the U.S. Chamber will be on hand to present Congressman Forbes with the Spirit of Enterprise award.
The Spirit of Enterprise Award is given to members of the House and Senate for “their support of pro-jobs, pro-growth policies during the session of Congress.”
The Chamber’s prestigious Spirit of Enterprise Award, in its 25th year, is given annually to members of Congress based on key business issues outlined in the Chamber publication How They Voted. Members who support the Chamber’s position on at least 70% of those votes qualify to receive the award.
Following Congressman’s Forbes remarks, the luncheon will have a presentation from Barry Duvall on Blueprint VA. Duvall is president and CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. The Blueprint VA initiative is for business leaders to offer input in order for the state chamber to have a strategic package of economic development goals ready to present to state legislators.
Chamber and non-chamber members are invited to this event.
