SA Lady Raiders basketball begins season 2-1

COURTLAND—The Southampton Academy Lady Raiders began the season with a loss to Ridgecroft, but bounced back with wins against Bethel Christian and Lawrence Academy.
Monday night, the Raiders lost to Ridgecroft School 39-32 on the road.
In the effort, Mason Pope had 11 points and Anna Carr had 10 points.
“It was a tough loss, but we played well for our first game, having had no scrimmages,” Chris Pope said, adding that Ridgecroft had already played four games.
Tuesday, the Lady Raiders defeated Bethel Christian 37-14.
Mason Pope had 13 points, while Sarah Best had 11.
“It was a good win,” Chris Pope said. “We played better defense.”
On Thursday, Southampton Academy defeated Lawrence Academy 43-24.
Morgan Pope had 20 points, and Mason Pope had 10.
“We shot the ball better, especially early in the game,” he said. “Mina Johnson, a sophomore, has played great defense in the first three games.”
Their next game is against Brunswick Academy on Monday, Dec. 9.
