Keep driving safely

The reported low numbers of weather-related accidents speaks to the common sense of residents Western Tidewater. You saw there was potential treachery on the roads and either stayed home or drove extra cautiously.
This is not to say, however, that those who had to drive and had accidents were careless. Other factors such as the hidden menace of ice or uncontrollable outside factors could cause vehicles to collide or end up in ditches.
For those reasons, we urge people to refrain from texting or even talking on cell phones, especially when in snow or rain. Slick roads and divided attentions are paths to accidents that could otherwise have been prevented.
